BUCH & CISS Hold Second Annual Grants Day

On Tuesday, October 7, faculty and graduate students in the humanities and social sciences gathered at the Yawkey Center for the second annual Grants Day. This all-day event was co-organized by the BU Center for the Humanities (BUCH) and the BU Center for Innovation in Social Sciences (CISS).

Panelists represented a wide range of experiences with the grants ecosystem and included former faculty and graduate student grantees and staff representatives from BUCH, CISS, the Arts & Sciences Office of Research Administration, BU Federal Relations, BU Community Relations, BU Foundation Relations, and BU Industry Engagement. This diversity of experiences made for engaging panels that appealed to grant seekers at every step of the process. Topics included harnessing on-campus grant support resources, identifying potential funding sources, building partnerships, and preparing a successful proposal.

After the panel presentations, attendees enjoyed lunch during a “speed dating” session, where they had the opportunity to informally chat with other participants whose grant seeking goals most closely aligned with their own. Attendees chose from tables offering more fine-grained information on the first steps of grant seeking, grants for graduate students, health-focused grants, and private funding.
