Johnson to Present Sweeney Lecture
On September 19th, HAA doctoral student Sybil F. Johnson will present the John A.H. Sweeney Emerging Scholar Lecture at the Decorative Arts Trust Symposium to be held in Salem, Mass.
Johnson’s talk, “‘Out on the Waters!’: Image and Meaning in an Indian Princess Ship Figurehead,” examines the origin of a ship figurehead in the Peabody Essex Museum’s collection.
The symposium will provide a program focused on the region’s decorative arts and architecture.
