Geddes Mini-Grants for Faculty and Graduate Students
This year we will fund up to five projects through the Geddes Mini-Grants Program. Apply here by October 15 to receive consideration.
NERALLT Conference at BU – October 11-12, 2018
The Geddes Language Center will host the Annual Conference for NERALLT, the New England Regional Association for Language Learning Technology, on October 11-12, 2018. The Call for Proposals has been extended to July 15, 2018. More information is available on the NERALLT website. We are happy to have this organization back as a Geddes sponsored conference after many years
Summer 2018 construction includes one Geddes classroom
Other renovations are for rooms B14, B25, B27A, B27B, 325, 323A, 323B, 424, and a combined 426-428 large classroom. These will be similar to the recently completed renovations in 310, 312, 314, 316, 318, 320, and 322.

Spring Faculty Showcase
Dear Faculty Colleagues:
Happy Spring! We invite you to attend our main event for the semester, the Spring Faculty Showcase on Wednesday, April 18 at 1:15 PM in Geddes. This event features four projects in instructional design by faculty in languages as indicated on the attached flyer.
It is a good opportunity to learn from our colleagues, as well as give shape to ideas for future projects funded through the Geddes Mini-Grants program, now in its 3rd year.

On January 3, 2018, we launched a minor update to the Geddes website. The new site is optimized to allow for phone and tablet users to navigate the site. While most of the content has not changed, some pages have been moved for better organization. Please check any links to the Geddes site that you may link to in your course pages.

Announcing this year’s Geddes Mini-Grant Recipients
Once again this year, there was a broadly based show of interest in our Geddes Mini-Grants program. This year’s grant recipients include: Hongyun Sun (Lecturer in Chinese) – “Incorporating Topic-Oriented Videos into Business Chinese;” María Datel (Senior Lecturer in Spanish) – “The Madrid Summer Program Promotion Integrated to the Contents of LS 211 and LS 212;” Elena Carrión-Guererro (Lecturer in Spanish) – “Interpersonal Communication, Listening and Presentational Speaking Skills: Authentic Conversations at the Intermediate Level Pilot Project;” and Luluah Mustafa (Senior Lecturer in Arabic and Head of Arabic Language Program) – “Computerized Placement Testing in Arabic.” We look forward to working with each of the grantees as they introduce innovations to language learning at BU using technology.
