Yaxiong Ma is a Former Global China Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the Boston University Global Development Policy Center from 2020-2022. Ma earned his Ph.D. at the Department of Earth and Environment at Boston University. He received his Master’s degree in Environmental Remote Sensing & Geographic Information System from Boston University. His research focuses on the coupled human and natural systems from the spatial perspective using remotely sensed data and GIS. At the Global Development Policy Center, he worked on China’s Overseas Development Finance Database and is now investigating how development projects of China’s Belt and Road Initiative impact on land cover, biodiversity and Indigenous people.
