Yaxiong Ma is a Global China Pre-doctoral Research Fellow at the Boston University Global Development Policy Center and aPh.D. candidate in the Department of Earth and Environment at BU. He received his master’s degree in Environmental Remote Sensing & Geographic Information System from Boston University. His research focuses on the coupled human and natural systems from the spatial perspective using remotely sensed data and GIS. At the Global Development Policy Center, he worked on China’s Overseas Development Finance Database and is now investigating how development projects of China’s Belt and Road Initiative impact on land cover, biodiversity and Indigenous people.
