Sylvia Delafield (COM ’84) is a member of the Boston University Global Development Policy Center Alumni Advisory Board. She is the Co-Founder and Director of Howard Delafield International (HDI) which designs and implements communications, marketing and partnership initiatives around the globe on behalf of donors, NGOs, companies and governments. Sylvia is a leader in managing diverse public health, human rights and environmental partnerships. Her passion is to help others build their skills in identifying and forging their own partnerships to help them sustain their initiatives.

With a Masters in Communications (cross cultural focus) from the University of Hawaii, as an Asian Pacific Scholar scholarship recipient, Ms. Delafield has worked in the Asian/Pacific region, Africa, the Caribbean and the US, focusing her efforts on vulnerable, under-served and mobile communities. Sylvia received her BS from Boston University’s School of Communication, where she began her journey of exploring the world through her study abroad in Japan. Sylvia also served as the Manager of Corporate Partnerships for the Nature Conservancy’s Asia/Pacific Region and served as the Director of Marketing for a Dai Ichi Hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia.
