Nicholas Pape is a Former Global China Research Fellow with the Boston University Global Development Policy Center and a PhD candidate whose research examines how policies shape energy systems, CO₂ emissions, and broader macroeconomic outcomes. His work centers on the intersections of climate change mitigation, global decarbonization, and sustainable development. He develops and applies analytical and computable general equilibrium (CGE) models to evaluate the impacts of climate policies, including carbon pricing mechanisms implemented worldwide, international carbon pricing floor initiatives, and renewable energy investments by multilateral development banks in emerging and developing economies. Nicholas holds an MA in Earth and Environment from Boston University and an SB in Mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he minored in Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences and Political Science. At MIT, he conducted research on energy, environment, and sustainability using data analysis, computational modeling, and quantitative methods.
