Meredith Brooks is an Assistant Professor of Global Health at the Boston University School of Public Health. She is an infectious disease epidemiologist and implementation scientist, specializing in tuberculosis (TB), with particular expertise in pediatric TB, youth TB transmission, and optimizing community-based screening and prevention strategies in high-burden, low-resource settings.
Her interdisciplinary research investigates how investments in health—particularly early detection, treatment adherence, and care cascades for children and youth—affect long-term outcomes. This includes addressing TB’s impact on child growth, morbidity, lung function, and economic productivity, as well as household and community transmission dynamics that perpetuate cycles of poverty.
Dr. Brooks’ work draws on advanced methods such as spatial modeling and machine learning for resource allocation, and policy-oriented implementation assessments to inform evidence-based interventions that strengthen health systems. She has experience working in South Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, North and South America, collaborating with international partners, national TB programs, and organizations to bridge research, practice, and policy for vulnerable populations. Dr. Brooks is also co-Leader of the Boston/Providence CFAR’s Implementation Science Scientific Working Group and is current Chair of the Faculty Senate at the School of Public Health.
