Lucas Engel

Lucas Engel is a Data Analyst for the Global China Initiative at the Boston University Global Development Policy (GDP) Center. Prior to taking up this role, Lucas worked as Research Assistant and Senior Research Assistant for the Chinese Loans to Africa (CLA) Database managed by the GDP Center. He also interned with the China Africa Research Initiative at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies. His research interests include the international political economy of China, Chinese development finance and China’s role in global supply chains for critical minerals. Lucas holds a M.Sc. in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a B.A. in Politics and Economics from Bard College Berlin.
