Lin Shi is a Post-doctoral Fellow with the Global Economic Governance Initiative at the Boston University Global Development Policy Center. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the American University Department of Economics. Her primary research interest is international trade, with a particular focus on global value chains, macroeconomic development and the political economy of trade policy preferences. Lin has held positions in academia, think tank, intergovernmental organizations and non-profit organizations in various capacities. Prior to joining the GDP Center, she served as an Adjunct Faculty at the American University Department of Economics and School of International Service. She has worked as a Research Intern at the African Department of the International Monetary Fund, and as an Economic Affairs Intern at the Policy Analysis and Research Branch of UNCTAD. She holds an M.A. in Applied Economics from Georgetown University and a B.S. in Economics from the University of Washington. In her spare time, she enjoys taking ballet lessons, long-distance running and cooking different cuisines.
