Hongbo Yang is a Former Global China Research Fellow at the Boston University Global Development Policy Center. He earned his PhD from Michigan State University and a Master of Science from the Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. His previous research focused on integrating techniques from different disciplines, such as remote sensing, GIS, and causal inference statistics, to evaluate the impacts of environmental policies on people and nature. At the GDP Center, Hongbo worked on projects related to studying the impacts of China’s Belt and Road Initiative on land cover, biodiversity and indigenous people.
