Ericka Osses is a 2025 Summer in the Field Fellow and a Ph.D. Candidate in the Earth and Environment program at Boston University, where she is advised by Professor Robert K. Kaufmann. Originally from Chile, she is also a recipient of a Fulbright scholarship.
Her research examines how climate change affects economic productivity through its impact on capital, labor, and ecosystem services across 114 countries. Using satellite data, climate projections, and panel econometric techniques, Ericka estimates economic losses and gains under different future scenarios. Her project aims to identify the country’s most vulnerable to climate-related disruptions and provide empirical evidence on structural inequalities in exposure and adaptive capacity. By generating visualizations and cross-country comparisons, her work contributes to the design of more equitable, data-driven, and sustainable policies. The findings are intended to inform multilateral development institutions as well as national governments seeking to integrate climate risks into long-term economic planning.
