Annabelle Gao is a Global China Pre-doctoral Research Fellow at the Boston University Global Development Policy Center and a PhD Candidate in the Department of Earth and Environment at Boston University. She is broadly interested in using remote sensing to track and model global environmental resilience and quantify how changing ecosystems impact natural and anthropogenic systems. Her research focuses on the future environmental risks and socioeconomic consequences of energy transition metal mining in increasingly water-scarce regions. Annabelle holds a MS in Environmental Geoscience from Aix-Marseille University in France and a ScB in Geology-Chemistry from Brown University.
