
Devika Dutt
Pre-Doctoral Fellow at GEGI
Devika Dutt is a pre-doctoral fellow at the GDP Center. She is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Economics of the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, writing a dissertation about the political economy of the costs of foreign exchange intervention, with a focus on developing economies. Devika will investigate the effects of trade liberalization on fiscal stability in developing countries, including the impact on their sovereign debt. She has previous work that highlights the role of government-owned banks in fostering financial stability and mobilizing capital for financing development. Devika has previously worked at the Political Economy Research Institute and the Center for Public Policy and Administration at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She is also an organizer of the Young Scholars’ Initiative of the Institute for New Economic Thinking in the Financial Stability Working Group and has organized several conferences and workshops in this capacity.
