China and the International Monetary System

As part of the Fall 2020 Global Economic Governance Seminar Series, Zhongxia Jin will present on China and the International Monetary System. Dr. Jin is the Executive Director for China at the International Monetary Fund.

Zhongxia joined the International Monetary Fund in February 2015. Prior to joining the Fund, he held various positions in the People’s Bank of China in Beijing, including as Director-General of the Research Institute, Deputy Director-General of the Monetary Policy Department and Deputy Director-General of the International Department. His experience covers G20 matters, IMF affairs, regional monetary cooperation, and domestic open market operation.

His research area includes interest rate liberalization and monetary policy transmission, internationalization of the RMB, and BOP management. His publications in recent years include: China and G20 (2014); and Future Path of Globalization: International Trade and Investment Rules Under Restructuring. His most recent research is on “RMB: from marketization to internationalization.”

 

Zhongxia holds a PhD in International Finance from the University of Hawaii; and an MA in Macroeconomic Management and BA in International Economics from Peking University.
