RESEARCH ASSISTANT POSITION: Renewable Energy Targets, a Global Estimate
We are seeking a research assistant to join the Boston University Global Development Policy Center for the project Renewable Energy Targets, a Global Estimate.
Project Description:
The project Renewable Energy Targets, a Global Estimate seeks to quantify national renewable energy targets in the power sector globally, both in terms of installed capacity (GW) and in terms of investment needed ($). The project will be implemented in partnership with an Intergovernmental Organization. We will use existing methodologies developed at the GDP Center and data provided by our partners and gathered through research. The project will result in a major report and several side publications, as well as outreach activities. The Renewable Energy Targets Project is expected to start in late March or early April and last for 6 to 9 months. The time commitment to be negotiated, with up to 20 hours/week during the school year and more available during the summer. Compensation rates are based on experience and Boston University guidelines. The position is based at the GDP Center, in Boston, MA.
Job Responsibilities:
Support data collection and verification of renewable energy targets
Support data analysis and quantification of renewable energy targets
Support content drafting and proofreading
Data quality assurance
Literature review
Support outreach activities
Other project activities as needed
Support GDP Center academic activities as needed
Desired qualifications and requirements:
Knowledge of renewable energy targets in the electricity sector (international), renewable energy policies, renewable energy technologies and current trends in renewable energy worldwide.
The ideal candidate is a PhD student doing his or her research on international renewable energy targets in the electricity sector. Master students will also be considered.
Academic training or working experience in relevant disciplines, including public policy; policy research and analysis; renewable energy technologies; energy systems; and basic economics.
The candidate must be a student enrolled in a US academic institution and eligible for student work in the US.
Quantitative and qualitative research skills
Excellent writing proficiency in English
Working proficiency in other languages is a plus, especially Spanish, French and/or Arabic
Interest in the topic of international development
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
