Land Use & Livelihoods Initiative (LULI) holds inaugural workshop

Outlooks to outcomes: Interdisciplinary approaches to land-based livelihoods and land use change. 

On May 4, 2018, the GDP Center hosted the inaugural Land Use & Livelihoods Initiative (LULI) workshop inviting 19 leading scholars and practitioners to engage in a series of productive discussions surrounding land-based livelihoods and land use change.

Experts shared insights from research in Brazil, China, Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Mozambique, California, India, and Tanzania. Discussions revolved around the challenges of integrated livelihood and land use research, improved communication among research efforts at different scales, and opportunities for future collaborations.

Institutions represented included Boston University, Brown, Clark, Cornell, Harvard, McGill, Penn State, Tufts, Environmental Defense Fund, and World Bank Group.
