Affiliate Groups

As an Affiliate Group member of Boston University, you are invited to join BU’s Fitness and Recreation Center, one of the country’s top university fitness centers.

Membership provides you with access to all of our extraordinary facilities, membership services,  a discounted rate for our wide variety of exciting recreation classes, and family programming. We also have locker rooms and saunas for convenience and comfort.

Membership Details

• Proof of eligibility, such as a work ID or a letter from personnel, is required. Send proof of eligibility to fitrec@bu.edu, and you will be contacted when proper permissions have been added to your account. If you do not have a BU kerberos login, you will need to create an account. If you have a BU kerberos login, you will not need to create an account
  • Visiting Scholars should submit their Appointment Letter showing the start and end dates of the appointment.

  • 660 Corporation Employees on BU Campus
  • Aramark Employees on BU Campus
  • Barnes & Noble Employees on BU Campus
  • Boston Medical Center Employees
  • BU Works Consultants/Contractors
  • Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra staff members
  • Otis Elevator

• Cancellation Policy – members must cancel by the 25^th of the month to end the monthly plan

Monthly Recurring Plans

This is a monthly membership that becomes active immediately at the time of purchase. There will be a recurring charge on the first of each month until membership is cancelled via our online form. Cancellation request deadline is the 25th of the month to stop billing for the following month.

¹First month price will prorate automatically based on the day of purchase. Following months will bill at the full monthly amount.

²Afiliated groups such as Visiting Scholars, BMC, etc. will need to purchase a FitRec ID. All spouse members and dependent members age 16 or older are required to have a FitRec ID in order to access the building. Any spouse or dependent member 16+ joining on or after June 1, 2025, will need to purchase a FitRec ID.

6-Month Recurring Plans

6-Month recurring memberships have no initiation fee and represent a roughly 15% savings over the cost of a monthly membership. 6-month recurring plans also include access to fall/spring Drop-In classes (formerly FitPass). This membership automatically renews every July 1 and January 1 until cancellation is requested via our online form. The 6-Month Recurring membership option is available during open enrollment periods only.

¹Affiliated groups that do not possess BUIDs will need to purchase a FitRec ID. All spouse members and dependent members age 16 or older are required to have a FitRec ID in order to access the building. Any spouse or dependent 16+ who was not an active 6-month or annual member during the month of May 2025, or who was a monthly member in June of 2025 and already purchased a new ID, will need to purchase a FitRec ID when signing up for 6-month membership.

Next Open Enrollment period is December 15, 2025 – January 23, 2026 for Memberships starting January 1.

Annual Recurring Plans

Annual recurring memberships have no initiation fee and represent a roughly 20% savings over the cost of monthly membership. Annual Recurring plans also include access to fall/spring Drop-In classes (formerly FitPass). This membership automatically renews every July 1 until cancellation is requested via our online form. The Annual Recurring membership option is available during open enrollment periods only.
