As a dancer who once participated in the Nutcracker every winter, this time of year has me nostalgic for my days performing the classic winter-time ballet. I remember so distinctly the feeling of anticipation as I was about to go on stage, whether I was entering in the role of a party girl when I was 7 or the Sugar Plum Fairy when I was 17. I feel a similar kind of anticipation for the future now, but instead of triple checking that pointe shoes are secure and rolling my shoulders back for the perfect port de bras, I’m making sure I am prepared for my final semester as an undergraduate at BU. This in large part means taking advantage of the opportunities to dance on campus! When course registration opened on MyBU Portal in October, I immediately signed up for DeAnna Pellecchia’s High Intermediate Modern/Contemporary class (DA340) on Tuesdays from 12:30 – 2 pm. I am also considering going back to High Intermediate Ballet with Margot Parsons (DA329) for the first time since my sophomore fall! As for non-credits, I have my eye on an Aerial Silks Skills class, or maybe I’ll even return to Pole! And of course, I’ll be returning to learn student choreographed pieces and perform with Dance Theatre Group. I know that I’ll make the most out of this last semester in the dance studio!
