The Boston University College of Fine Arts School of Theatre, in collaboration with the Department of Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, presents the 21st annual Aurora Borealis: A Festival of Light and Dance. View the full press release here.
Aurora Borealis is a vibrant exploration of the relationship between light and form with a focus on collaboration and experimentation, featuring dance and movement pieces by faculty and students with lighting designed by Eduardo Ramirez and Conor Thiele, graduate students in the School of Theatre Lighting Design Program. This year, the concert will feature directed study projects by CFA acting students and dance minors, who were guided in their creative processes by Yo-El Cassell and Micki Taylor-Pinney, respectively. Choreography will also be performed by students from BU Dance Program classes. Jossie Coleman will once again be bringing the energy with her Afro-Fusion, CardioJazzFunk, Heels, and Hip Hop classes. We are also excited to announce the return of Aerial Dance Choreography, facilitated by dance faculty Molly Baechtold.
The one-hour performances are Monday, December 4, 7 pm and 9 pm in the BU Dance Theater, located at 915 Commonwealth Ave (entrance opposite 10 Buick Street). Free and open to the public. No ticketing required. Yo-EL Cassell and Micki Taylor-Pinney are the artistic co-directors. Mark Stanley is the Lighting Design Faculty Advisor and Lynda Rieman is the BU Dance Theater Production Manager. Masks are optional, and we can’t wait for you to see what everyone has been working on!
