September 11 Reflections

The following was sent to all students, on Friday, Sept. 10, 2021.

10 September 2021

Beloved,

As you know, the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, killed nearly 3,000 people. We tragically lost several BU Alums and many loved ones.

Marsh Chapel will lead our community in an observance in remembering the twentieth anniversary of the September 11, attacks. BU Today is offering reflections to remember the victims of the attacks and to explore the ongoing effects of the September 11, tragedy. There, you will encounter related stories, podcasts, and hope.

If you find a need for someone to listen, Crisis Counseling (930 Commonwealth Avenue, 617-353-7277), Behavioral Medicine (881 Commonwealth Avenue, 617-353-3569), and the University Chaplains Office (Marsh Chapel, 617-358-3394) are staffed with people who may be of assistance.

I am still at a loss for words, so, personally, this year on September 11, I plan to pause and reflect at 8:46 a.m., 9:03 a.m., 9:37 a.m., and 10:03 a.m. (all EST). * I hope you will join me.

Stay encouraged,

Kenneth Elmore
Associate Provost and Dean of Students
