Boston University September 11 Observances
Boston University will acknowledge the tenth anniversary of the September 11, attacks through several observances.
Marsh Chapel, the University’s center for spiritual life, will hold a number of events on Sunday, September 11. They will host the main University observance at 12 noon on Marsh Plaza. Holding this event at Marsh harkens back to the University’s original response on September 11, 2001, when students, faculty and staff gathered on the plaza for days following for vigils and memorials. Sunday’s event will include the reading of the names of those affiliated with the University who perished on that day. Please visit their website for more information about this event.
At 2pm on September 11, students from the College of Fine Arts School of Theatre will read selections from the “Voices of 9/11 Living Memorial” website, as well as from The New York Times “Portraits in Grief” series. This will also take place on Marsh Plaza, with the Tsai Performance Center as a rain location.
Dean Elmore’s Coffee and Conversation on Friday, September 9, will include reflections on the tenth anniversary of September 11. It will take place from 3-5pm in the Howard Thurman Center.
