Yuan Li

Yuan Li is a visiting PhD student from Sun Yat-sen university in China. Her primary research interests lie in Protestant mission studies in late Qing China and Western Buddhist Studies in the nineteenth century, as well as Victorian literature and philosophy. Her current research focuses on Joseph Edkins, a missionary from London Missionary Society, particularly his writings on Chinese Buddhism. As a visiting student, she is committed to examining how Edkins participated in the construction of Western Buddhist Studies and contributed to shaping the understanding of Chinese Buddhism in the West.
