Are you an undergraduate student looking to transfer to Boston University College of Fine Arts?

Undergraduate students external to Boston University who are considering transferring to BU College of Fine Arts should be in contact with the Boston University Admissions Office to learn more about the application process and the application requirements for transfer students.

Prospective transfer students should follow the application requirements for the appropriate major.

In addition, please note that each School has specific requirements and instructions. Please review Transfer requirements from the School of Music, School of Theatre, and School of Visual Arts for more information.

Please note: If at any time during your undergraduate experience, you choose to pursue an Intra-University Transfer (IUT) out of CFA or change your CFA Major to a Minor, you will lose your CFA Merit Aid.

INTRA UNIVERSITY TRANSFER ADMISSIONS

Are you a BU student interested in transferring into CFA via Intra-University Transfer (IUT)?

To start the process, please email cfaiut@bu.edu, and someone from the School of interest will contact you regarding the next step in the process. A 2.0 GPA is required to be artistically evaluated for transfer into CFA.  For most programs of study within the College of Fine Arts, you will need to audition or have a portfolio review to be considered for transfer. Please review Intra-University Transfer details from the School of Music, School of Theatre, and School of Visual Arts for more information. Students artistically admitted to the College of Fine Arts via successful evaluation of audition or portfolio will receive confirmation from Brendan Hoey, Director of Undergraduate Student Services, to complete paperwork and update records as needed.

Are you a CFA student interested in transferring out of CFA to a different BU College & Program via Intra-University Transfer (IUT)?
Please be sure to schedule a meeting with your CFA Advisor and Brendan Hoey, brendan2@bu.edu, to discuss your academic plan. CFA Merit Aid is available only to enrolled CFA students. If you transfer out of the College of Fine Arts, you will lose your CFA Merit Aid.
Note from the BU Undergraduate Advising Office: International students in F-1 status are restricted from changing academic programs (including majors, minors, and schools/colleges) until after their first academic year in the US. Please do not submit program changes until you are eligible.
