Jamie Gunther
Lecturer in Music, Music Education and Licensure Coordinator
Dr. Jamie Gunther is a music educator and researcher whose scholarship centers on the intersections of access, equity, and music teacher education. He serves as Lecturer in Music, Music Education and Licensure Coordinator at Boston University, where he coordinates student teaching and licensure and teaches practicum seminar.
Jamie previously served as Assistant Director of Teacher Education at Longy School of Music of Bard College, where he chaired the Master of Music in Music Education licensure program, served as student teaching coordinator, and DESE credentialing officer. He began his career teaching K-12 general music, band, drumline, and digital music in New York City and Boston schools.
Jamie currently chairs the Massachusetts Music Educators Association Council for Research and Teacher Education, holds degrees from Teachers College, Columbia University (Ed.D, M.A.), Central Michigan University (M.M.); and Penn State (B.M.E.), and is an active conference presenter and published researcher.
