Public Open Nights at the BU Coit Observatory
We have run the Open Nights since 1967. The effort is voluntary, so please be understanding that resources are limited. We can not run special open nights for groups or allow access to our observatory on other nights.

When do tickets become available each week?
Tickets go live on Thursdays at ~ 11am EDT. The tickets are posted on Thursday for the event the following Wednesday.
They must be posted by hand each week so the exact time will vary.
I checked around 11am and there are already no tickets - is that correct?
Tickets sell out quickly, usually within a few minutes of being posted.
Where do I reserve tickets?
I tried to reserve tickets through the Eventbrite site but it didn't work.
Please make certain you are logged into Eventbrite to see the tickets.
Will Open Night be held if the weather in Boston is cloudy/rainy/etc.?
No. — We only hold Open Night on clear nights and we will cancel when it is cloudy.
To check to see if Open Night will be held for the current week:
- call 617-353-2630 within two hours of the start time to confirm that the observatory will be open, or
- check our BU Observatory Twitter feed for the latest updates
Will Open Night be held if the weather is more severe?
No. — We will cancel in the event of extreme weather conditions: typically cold or wind.
I checked the Eventbrite site but tickets are all reserved. Can I show up without a ticket?
Yes*. — You can show up without tickets.

Showing up without a ticket does not guarantee admittance. All ticket holders will be admitted and then non-ticket holders will be admitted until the observatory capacity is reached.
Do you allow late admittance?
No. — There is no late admittance. It’s best to arrive ten minutes early, but if you are not on time you will not be allowed in.
