On Beethoven, Blackness, and Belonging: Debating German Music across the Black Atlantic
Join Kira Thurman, an associate professor of history, German studies, and musicology at the University of Michigan, for BU’s 2023 Silas Peirce Lecture, “On Beethoven, Blackness, and Belonging: Debating German Music across the Black Atlantic.” She will discuss how African Americans have incorporated classical music into their lives throughout history and explore why African Americans perform a genre that some consider to be “white, elitist, and eurocentric.”

BU Career Fair Spring 2023
Come network with employers and find an internship or job opportunity at the Career Fair Spring 2023. Hosted by the Center for Career Development, this in-person event is open to all BU students and alumni, regardless of major or class year. Be sure to dress professionally, polish your elevator pitch, and bring your résumé. If you want to be extra prepared, attend one of the CCD’s drop-in prep sessions or workshops held on February 13.

Secrets of the Sea: A Screening with Filmmaker Jonathan Bird
The New England Aquarium presents Secrets of the Sea: A Screening with Filmmaker Jonathan Bird as part of its free public lecture series at Simons Theatre. The 3-D film depicts life among more than 70 marine species, such as pygmy seahorses, opalescent squid, manta rays, and tiger sharks. It was filmed in several locations across the globe among them the Philippines, Mexico, Tahiti, Indonesia, Palau, Hawaii, and California.

The Dear Abbeys: Men Being Manly Philanthropy Show
Catch The Dear Abbeys, BU’s all-male a cappella group, at their annual philanthropy concert for various causes at Marsh Chapel. Last year, The Dear Abbeys teamed up with BU’s Sexual Assault Response & Prevention Center (SARP) and raised over $800, which was donated to help survivors of sexual assault.

Boys II Men at MGM Music Hall at Fenway

Jado Jehad by Fatima A. Maan
Boston Playwrights’ Theatre presents Jado Jehad, a new play by Fatima A. Maan (GRS’23), a fellow in the Arts & Sciences Playwriting Program. The show is a “coming-of-every-age” story about acceptance across generations, love, and perseverance.

12th Annual Presidents Day Festival at JFK Library
Spend Presidents Day at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum or tune in to the celebrations online. The library’s 12th annual Presidents Day Festival will feature musical performances, storytelling, and museum tours, while also highlighting the 35th president’s time in the White House.
