Welcome!

Welcome to the Master of Science in Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MSIE)—a leading-edge graduate program exploring two of the most globally important drivers of economic and organizational transformation: innovation and entrepreneurship. Offered through the Department of Administrative Sciences at Boston University’s Metropolitan College, the MSIE provides a specialized graduate course of study designed to prepare you to be an effective entrepreneurial manager and contributor, whether in launching new ventures or advancing innovation in corporate, public-sector, or nonprofit contexts.

The MSIE curriculum equips students with both foundational and forward-looking concepts, anchored in design thinking, opportunity identification, customer discovery, business model innovation, and entrepreneurial leadership. These skills prepare graduates to operate confidently under uncertainty, generate and test novel solutions, build viable business models, and lead teams to create meaningful and sustainable value. Our deep focus on business innovation, creative problem-solving methodologies, technology strategy, and principles of entrepreneurship position the MSIE as a world-class program attuned to the needs of the increasingly innovation and technology-driven economy.

Students customize their pathway by choosing from one of three outstanding concentrations—strategy, technology, or sustainability—each designed to support your professional goals and educational interests. Collectively, these concentrations enable MSIE students to develop advanced expertise applicable across a wide range of industries and organizational sizes, from high-growth start-ups to global enterprises, and from government agencies and NGOs to community-based social innovation initiatives. Our learning principles scale for relevance to organizations worldwide, whether expanding at local, national, regional, or international level, and according to size, scope, and context.

We look forward to welcoming you into the MSIE program, where together we will explore cutting-edge management, innovation, and entrepreneurship concepts, along with practical, research-grounded approaches that support the design and development of new products, services, processes, and that boost organizational competitive advantages. Our aim is to furnish you with the groundwork to create and lead innovations that enhance organizational performance—in firms large or small—across diverse sectors worldwide.

Sincerely,
