Graduate Certificate in Literacy in Deaf Education

The Graduate Certificate in Literacy in Deaf Education offers a focused and practical course of study for current teachers and professionals who want to enhance their expertise in literacy instruction tailored to the unique needs of Deaf students. The program blends theoretical foundations with hands-on learning, including opportunities to examine real classroom challenges and collaborate with fellow educators. All courses can be completed either in person or online.

  • WED DE 506 Teaching and Creating ASL Literature (4 units)
  • WED DE 531 Language Acquisition in Deaf Children (4 units)
  • WED DE 535 Teaching ASL as a First Language (4 units)

Additional Information

This program is part-time only. Program start dates are September and January. The certificate is stackable, and students interested in pursuing further study can transfer up units to the EdM.
