Boston: A Political History

This course explores the political history of Boston and broader themes in American politics. Through lectures, discussions, and case studies, we examine how Boston’s local politics – from machine bosses to civil rights struggles – illuminate national political dynamics. Effective Spring 2026, this course fulfills a single requirement in each of the following BU Hub areas: Historical Consciousness, Social Inquiry 2.
