Introduction to Native American and Indigenous Literatures

Explores Native American and Indigenous literatures from the nineteenth century to the present. Addresses questions of identity,nationhood, sovereignty, environmental stewardship, and storytelling across oral, material, and literary cultures. Authors includeNatalie Diaz, Louise Erdrich, LeAnne Howe, Joy Harjo, D'Arcy McNickle, Leslie Marmon Silko, Tommy Pico, and Sarah Winnemucca. Effective Fall 2026, this course fulfills a single requirement in each of the following BU Hub areas: Interpretation Aesthetic Exploration, The Individual in Community, Writing-Intensive Course.
