We will study ancient monsters in the literary and physical arts, from Homer's Iliad and Ovid's Metamorphoses to vase paintings and murals. We will ask what these monsters reveal about Greek and Roman fears and anxieties and how these monsters change over time. No knowledge of Greek or Latin required. |
