Why were you placed on academic probation?

At the end of each term or semester, students with a cumulative GPA below a 3.0 are sent to the Academic Review Board. Upon review of your transcript, it was determined that you are not currently making sufficient academic progress so you have been placed on academic probation. Going forward, if the Academic Review Board determines that you have not made sufficient academic progress to complete your program of study, you will be recommended for dismissal from the program. Due to the seriousness of this situation, it is critical that you create a plan of action to raise your GPA and be in good academic standing.

How will you get back into good academic standing?

Have you received any grades lower than a 'C'?*

A failing grade in a required course must be repeated immediately to earn a passing grade. It may well happen that the course is not offered in the next semester. In that case, you may be permitted to take additional courses provided that the failed course is retaken in the earliest possible semester.

If your failing grade was in an elective course, you may repeat the course and earn a passing grade or substitute another elective course in which a passing grade has been earned.

When a course is retaken, both grades will still appear on your transcript and will be factored into the cumulative GPA.

Since you have received passing grades for all of your courses, you are not required to retake a course at this time. However, please be aware that though 'C' and 'B-" grades are considered passing, they do not help raise your cumulative GPA to a satisfactory level.

If you have received an incomplete grade, it is recommended that you do not register for any additional classes until the grade is resolved. Incomplete grades automatically turn into 'F' grades after one semester.

Plan out your program in advance. We recommend that you plan the classes you are taking for your program in advance and register early. If a course requires a textbook, purchase the textbook early and request the syllabus from the instructor. You can begin reviewing your textbook a few weeks prior to the start of class so you can get a start on the course material.
Need more time to complete your degree? Students are given up to six years to complete their degree program. When work and life become too busy, it may help to take a short leave of absence from your studies.
