Stephanie Curenton Joins National P-3 Center Advisory Board
Stephanie M. Curenton, BU Wheelock associate professor of educational leadership & policy studies, has joined the advisory board of the National P–3 Center. Curenton will work with colleagues on the advisory board to focus on organizational and systemic change at the intersection of early childhood education and K–12.
At BU Wheelock, Curenton studies the social, cognitive, and language development of low-income and minority children within various ecological contexts, such as parent-child interactions, early childhood education programs, early childhood workforce programs, and related state and federal policies. She is the director of the Ecology of School Readiness Lab and the executive director of the Center on the Ecology of Early Development.
The National P–3 Center improves the education continuum that children experience from birth (preschool) through third grade. It works to mitigate the effects that race, class, culture, and zip code have on children’s learning opportunities.
