BU Wheelock Faculty Promoted to Senior Lecturer
Two faculty members were recently promoted for their significant contributions to BU Wheelock and Boston University and beyond. Greg Benoit in the Mathematics Education program, and Ariel Tichnor-Wagner in the Educational Policy Studies program, were promoted to senior lecturers. In addition, they are affiliated with two of BU Wheelock’s research centers, the Earl Center for Learning & Innovation and the Wheelock Educational Policy Center.
Greg Benoit, Mathematics Education

Greg Benoit is a senior lecturer in math education, as well as the assistant director for the Earl Center for Learning & Innovation. Driven by a deep commitment to creativity, equity, and justice, he critically works to understand and design expansive mathematical spaces that cultivate robust, positive mathematical identities. This includes analyzing popular culture artifacts to uncover their implicit messages regarding race, gender, and the very purpose of mathematics, while also developing digital simulations and practice environments that prioritize culturally responsive mathematics pedagogy.
Ariel Tichnor-Wagner, Educational Policy Studies

Ariel Tichnor-Wagner is a senior lecturer and program director of the Educational Policy Studies program at the BU Wheelock College of Education & Human Development. She is also affiliated faculty with the Wheelock Educational Policy Center (WEPC). Her research focuses on education policy and politics, with an emphasis on policy and program implementation, continuous improvement research, school improvement, civics education, global citizenship education, and teacher policy.
