Tangoe Mobile is Boston University’s new self-service platform for managing University-provided mobile devices and plans. It replaces the previous Pinnacle billing system, giving you one convenient online portal to handle mobile device orders, changes, and billing information.

Key Features

Tangoe Mobile offers a rich set of features to manage the entire lifecycle of your mobile devices and plans, from procurement to billing. It supports all types of mobile devices and service options offered at BU, including smartphones (iPhone, Android, etc.), tablets, and mobile broadband devices. Below are some of the key features and capabilities:

  • Online Bill & Usage Tracking: Access a web dashboard to view your monthly bills and usage details at any time. You can review current charges, previous invoices, and usage details (minutes, data, texts). This helps you monitor your plan usage and avoid surprises on your bill. You also have the ability to download billing information for easier expense auditing and record-keeping.
  • Self-Service Orders & Changes: Through Tangoe’s self-service portal, you can request new services or changes to existing services including ordering a new phone or mobile device, upgrading or replacing an existing device, or changing your plan or features. (Note: Some actions may require supervisor approval per University policy, but the requests can all start in Tangoe Mobile.)
  • Device Catalog with BU Pricing: When ordering equipment or plans, Tangoe Mobile displays the catalog of phones and plans available under BU’s contracts. You’ll see the models of phones or tablets you can choose and the service plans (with the discounted rates that BU has negotiated) right in the portal.
  • Inventory & Account Management: The portal provides an overview of all your active mobile lines and devices. Each line is tied to a user or department, so you can easily see information like the phone number, device model, assigned user, service plan, and costs for each device. Department admins with the proper role can see their entire inventory of devices and associated services in one view.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Authorized users can generate reports or utilize built-in analytics dashboards for deeper insights. Tangoe can also email summarized spend and usage reports on a monthly basis to keep you informed.

Requirements

  • Eligibility: This service is available to Boston University faculty and staff. Some features are only available to users who have University-provided mobile devices or plans. If you are a department admin who needs access to reporting data, please let us know.
