Cassandra Clay (SSW’79), private practice counselor, former BU School of Social Work (BUSSW) professor and clinical practice chair, and early contributor to the Building Refugee and Immigrant Degrees for Graduate Education program (BRIDGE) was recently elected to Boston University’s Board of Trustees. “While this is a challenging time for higher education, it is also an exciting time at Boston University with new technologies, increased teaching methodologies, a return to campus life and the implementation of a new strategic plan,” said Clay. “I look forward to engaging the university on a number of issues including financial support for students, student mental health and the strategic priority associated with diversity, inclusion and equity. I am honored to follow on the heels of outgoing Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees, Carla Meyer, who is also a social worker. I have no doubt that my social work training will guide me in upcoming discussions and deliberations.”

In addition to her new role on BU’s Board of Trustees, Clay will continue as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board at BUSSW. “We are thrilled that Cassandra is joining BU’s Board of Trustees,” says Dean Jorge Delva. “Her extensive knowledge about BU, universities in general, and her professional social work experiences will provide added value to the Board.”
