Assistant Professor of Health Sciences Basilis Zikopoulos is developing a stimulated human brain to test if autism, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, and sleep disorders stem from disruptions in the “attentional searchlight.” With the support of the National Institute of Mental Health, Zikopoulos is trailblazing the first map of how the thalamic reticular nucleus (attentional searchlight) is organized and how it functions in humans.
