Biography
Emily Briggs’ clinical experience spans a variety of settings, including inpatient psychiatric units serving adult and geriatric populations, inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, and correctional facilities. She continues to work with older adults who are incarcerated, supporting the development and maintenance of reentry skills to facilitate successful transitions back into the community upon release. Her scholarly interests include program development within correctional settings, supporting student experiences in non-traditional and emerging practice areas, and advancing recognition of occupational therapy’s role in correctional facilities. Her teaching emphasizes cultural responsiveness, effective communication, and mentorship, empowering students to become confident, adaptable, and empathetic practitioners who value diverse perspectives and lived experiences.
