Dr. Moore is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Speech, Language & Hearing Sciences and Dean Emeritus of Sargent College. Dr. Moore served as dean of Sargent from 2014 to 2023 where he oversaw the growth of the college’s research and education activities. Dr. Moore’s research focuses on the physiologic foundations of speech production, very early motor development of speech, disorders of speech motor control, and customized quantitative methods for measurement and description of speech-related phenomena. His areas of expertise also include orofacial motor control, respiratory physiology, speech acoustics, infant-directed speech (“parentese”), motor development, sound localization, and acoustic and physiologic signal processing.
