Be on time for commencement at Nickerson Field! 

Graduates must be lined up with their school/college by 12:15 pm, Sunday, May 18, in preparation for the procession.

Latecomers may not be admitted to sit with their class.

What do I have to do to prepare for graduation?

All students must fill out the online Sargent College Application for Graduation to establish a tentative graduation record.

The form should be completed no later than one full semester in advance of the intended graduation date. Students must have all course and credit requirements complete prior to their graduation cycle in order to officially graduate.

Students graduating in January and August are eligible to participate in the May graduation ceremony of the same calendar year as their official graduation date.

Doctoral students (PhD) must check with their advisor as to their eligibility to participate, and it is recommended that the dissertation defense be scheduled by mid-April if the student is to receive their hood and diploma in the May ceremony.

Commencement information will be sent by email and postal mail so please be sure that BU has updated contact information. Check the Sargent College and Boston University websites for important details about the ceremonies, and stop by the Academic Services Center or call 617-353-2713 with any questions.
