(Boston) – Lee Woodruff, co-author of the New York Times best-seller In an Instant: A Family’s Journey of Love and Healing, will give the 2010 Meredith E. Drench Lecture at the Boston University College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College on April 14th. Her talk is titled “”Life Changes in an Instant: A Caregivers Journey”.
In an Instant: A Family’s Journey of Love and Healing, chronicles the journey of her family after her husband, journalist Bob Woodruff, was injured by a roadside bomb in Iraq. The critically acclaimed story has garnered national attention and brought to light the numerous soldiers returning from Iraq who are suffering from traumatic brain injuries. The couple has made numerous television appearances since the publication of the book in 2007.
Woodruff founded and ran her own public relations firm for 16 years. Prior to running her own business, she served as a senior vice president at Porter Novelli and also worked for Hill & Knowlton in Bejing, China. She continues to work as a freelance writer, penning articles in publications such as Health, Redbook, Country Living and Family Fun.
Woodruff’s most recent book, titled Perfectly Imperfect: A Life in Progress, was published in the spring of 2009. Currently, she serves as a contributor for ABC’s Good Morning America, reporting on family related topics.
The event is free and open to the public. The 2010 Meredith E. Drench Lecture will take place on Wednesday, April 14th, 2010 at 5 p.m. at BU College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College, 635 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA in Room 101. There will be a book signing after the lecture. Also, all attendees are invited to attend a reception following the lecture at in the Setterberg Lounge on the 2nd floor.
