Four RS Students Defend Dissertations
Congratulations to the four Romance Studies doctoral students who successfully defended their dissertations in the spring ’23 semester!
Gerardo Cruz, PhD in Hispanic Language & Literatures, wrote his dissertation, La aporía postnacional: identidades posthumanas y espectrales en la literatura y las artes Latinoamericanos contemporáneas, with Prof. Rodrigo Lopes de Barros as his first reader.
José Dominicci Buzo, PhD in Hispanic Language & Literatures, wrote his dissertation, titled Eros en carnaval: literatura de burdel en España e Italia en la modernidad temprana, under the direction of Prof. James Iffland.
Laura Mayron, PhD in Hispanic Language & Literatures, wrote her dissertation, titled The Abject Body in Federico García Lorca, 1929-1930, under the direction of Prof. Christopher Maurer.
José Luis Nogales Baena, PhD in Hispanic Language & Literatures, wrote his dissertation, Soviet Culture and Cultural Exchange in Mexico During the Cold War, with Prof. Adela Pineda as the first reader.
