The CRC Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Office of Sponsored Programs are implementing Huron modules to facilitate conducting human subjects research, submitting and receiving grants, and developing agreements from data sharing to memoranda of understanding.
The IRB module will come first, with a planned go live in 2027. All Charles River Campus human subjects research projects will be created, submitted, reviewed, and maintained on the Huron IRB module. We will provide more details, and resources as we move forward with the development, testing, and training for the IRB site.
The Grants and Agreements modules, both falling under the Office of Sponsored Programs, are also expected to go live in 2027.
Charles River Campus Institutional Review Board
The Charles River Campus Institutional Review Board (IRB) is in the process of implementing Huron’s integrated online submission system which will provide a single, secure platform for submitting, managing, and tracking human subjects research protocols. Huron streamlines workflows, supports compliance, and enables role-based collaboration among faculty, PIs, departmental staff, and the Charles River Campus IRB. This project is expected to go live in 2027.

Huron’s integrated modules for Grants and Agreements support research administration at BU. These tools provide a single system for faculty, PIs, and department staff to initiate, manage, and track research submissions and contracts throughout the entire project life cycle. This page provides detailed information on what you can expect from this update.
