From a young age, Sofia Brown was always concocting “grand ideas” for what she wanted to be when she grew up. “I wanted to go to a big city with a decent amount of land between me and home so I could find myself, which landed me at Boston University in the Questrom School of Business.”
Ana Sofia says she chose Questrom for a simple reason: the people. She visited multiple schools during her college search and found a few that she could see herself attending—until she came to open house at Questrom. That sealed the deal.
“The presenters were incredible and I had multiple engaging conversations with professors, staff, and students that showed me that not only could I fit in at Questrom, but also that I really wanted to be here,” she says. “The fact that I clicked with the people I would be surrounded with was the most incredible feeling and fortified me to come such a long distance from home.”
What has Ana Sofia been up to since leaving her hometown of Dallas? She’s worked as a student advisor in the orientation office, entered Questrom’s Honors Program, with which she went on a business trip to Chile, and joined a nonprofit started by BU students called CollegeApp Assist, through which she’s mentoring a local high school student during the college application process.
She’s still not quite sure what she wants to do when she grows up, but one thing is for certain: her grand ideas are still flowing. Not only is she training to become a resident assistant, she’s also getting ready to study abroad in India, where she’ll be interning at a nonprofit called the Self-Employed Women’s Association.
“I can already tell that the Questrom school of business is preparing me well for whatever career path I choose.”
