“The Questrom career team was a really valuable resource. The mock interviews I did with them were extremely helpful.”

A month after he earned his MS in business analytics from Questrom, Aash joined the team at e-commerce giant Amazon. As a business analyst on the Order Performance Team for Trusted Order and Remediation Experiences, Aash helps create policy and program initiatives for third-party sellers on Amazon. In 2021, these sellers accounted for $80 billion of revenue for the company.

Aash says his professors prepared him well for his new role, and Questrom Career Services prepped him for the intense Amazon interview process, which involved five behavioral interviews and two technical interviews.

“Apart from the technical SQL rounds, the process mainly focused on Amazon leadership principles,” Aash says. “The Questrom career team was a really valuable resource. The mock interviews I did with them were extremely helpful. In one, I interacted with a Googler whose advice helped me grow as a professional.” In addition to the support he received from Career Services, Aash says the personalized coaching from MSBA Executive Director Francois Charvet was invaluable during his job search. “His constant guidance helped me work towards my potential and gave me a lot of insight into how recruiters operate.”

At Amazon, Aash provides analytical insights on new and existing programs and policy initiatives, utilizing tools like SQL, Excel, and QuickSight (a dashboarding tool). He also analyzes experimentation data, looking at how changing a specific policy in a smaller market has impacted third-party sellers’ order performance metrics, and whether the impact is good enough to scale to other markets. On a daily basis, effective communication and teamwork are crucial to his work, both skills he honed at Questrom.

“The MSBA focus on teamwork made me a better team player,” he says. “Paul Hutchinson’s teaming class and focus on empathy helped develop my soft skills, while Samuel Engel’s writing class was quite important because at Amazon we’re expected to write one-pagers on almost all facets of our work.”

In fact, Aash found all of his MSBA professors to be extremely knowledgeable, approachable, and helpful. “They were always there to answer questions, whether it was during office hours or over email.” Was there anything that surprised Aash about the program? “How fast it went by,” he says. “There was never a dull moment.”
