The Questrom MBA Deferred Enrollment Program offers undergraduate students who meet the eligibility requirements* the opportunity to apply now to either the Full-Time MBA or Part-Time MBA at Questrom. If admitted, candidates will then need to gain a few years of valuable, professionally relevant work experience before beginning the MBA.

The program looks for motivated thinkers and doers ready to make a serious impact – and to create value for the world.  Sound like you? Come to Questrom to create your own career path at one of the world’s leading research universities, in an international city known for innovation.

Step 2: Gain Experience

If admitted, you will have 2-5 years to begin either the Full-Time MBA or Part-Time MBA at Questrom.  During that time, successful candidates must gain at least 2 years of full-time, professionally relevant work experience before beginning the MBA.  They may also decide to pursue another master’s degree – such as those offered by Questrom – so long as they still meet the minimum 2 year work experience requirement (referenced above) before beginning the MBA.

Step 3: Begin Your MBA**

When you are ready to begin the MBA program, you will need to submit a short “renewal application,” including an updated resume.  You will then have a pre-enrollment interview to determine your readiness to begin the program.  If you are approved to begin the program for the upcoming entry term, you will then need to submit a non-refundable deposit to secure your seat in the class.

Scholarships

All candidates admitted through the Deferred Enrollment Program are pre-qualified for a merit-based scholarship. To determine the amount of the award, candidates will first need to follow the steps above under “Begin Your MBA.” In addition to submitting the “renewal application” and conducting the pre-enrollment interview, we also encourage candidates to submit any additional materials they think would aid in the scholarship review process. If approved to begin the program for the upcoming entry term, candidates will be notified of their scholarship award at that time.

If you do not meet these eligibility requirements, you may apply to our Full-Time MBA or Part-Time MBA through our standard application process.

Candidates applying through the Deferred Enrollment Program may select one of our specialty MBAs – either Health Sector MBA or Social Impact MBA. Those interested in applying to the Full-Time MBA specifically also have the choice to apply to the MBA+ MS in Digital Technology dual degree.

There are several MBA+ Joint Degree programs offered by Questrom in partnership with BU’s other graduate schools and colleges. With the exception of the MBA+ MS in Digital Technology – which is housed solely within Questrom – admission to all other MBA+ Joint Degrees requires separate applications to both Questrom and the appropriate BU school or college associated with the other degree.

Candidates admitted through the Deferred Enrollment Program are welcome to apply to one of our MBA+ Joint Degree programs offered in partnership with another graduate school at BU, but cannot apply to the other degree until the application cycle for the year in which they intend to begin the MBA.  Once they have been approved to begin the MBA program for the upcoming entry term, they can then submit their application to the other program associated with the joint degree to which they’d like to apply.

Those interested in the Online MBA at Questrom are not eligible to apply through the Deferred Enrollment Program. More information on Questrom’s Online MBA program and admissions process can be found here.

If admitted, candidates will have 2-5 years to begin either the Full-Time MBA or Professional Evening MBA at Questrom. During your 2–5-year deferral window, we will ask you to complete a “check-in form” each fall in order to get an update from you on your intentions for that year.

  1. Notify us of your intention to begin the MBA via the “check in form,” which will be sent each fall during your 2–5-year deferral window.
  2. Submit a short “renewal application,” including an updated resume. The “renewal application” will be due in the Fall of the year before you intend on matriculating.
  3. Complete a pre-enrollment interview with a member of the admissions team in order to determine your readiness to begin the program.
  4. If approved to begin the program for the upcoming entry term, you will then need to submit a declaration of intent and a non-refundable deposit to secure your seat in the class.

You should use your 2–5-year deferral window to gain at least 2 years of full-time, professionally-relevant work experience by the time you matriculate into the MBA program. There is no specific type of work experience you should gain during this time, but it should be professionally relevant and demonstrate your ability to contribute to the success of an organization.

If you are admitted and choose to accept an offer through our Deferred Enrollment Program, it is not binding. We understand that your plans may change during your 2-5-year deferral window.  Because of this, we will reach out to you and ask you to complete a “check-in form” each fall in order to get an update from you regarding your intentions for the coming year.  If you are no longer interested in joining the Full-Time MBA or Part-Time MBA at Questrom, you can simply choose that option in the “check-in form” and we will withdraw your application from the program.
