Questrom Undergraduate Student-led Astra Wellbeing Has Been Named On The Poets & Quants 2023 List Of Most Disruptive Business School Startups

Undergraduates Johar Singh (Questrom ’24), Josh Bruehwiler (Questrom ’24), and Taha Moukara, (Questrom ’24) launched Astra Wellbeing, a Healthcare Employee Recognition Platform out of gratitude for the healthcare workers who had taken care of them. Josh and Taha both suffered severe medical conditions and Johar watched his mother fight Covid-19 on the frontlines. This month Astra Wellbeing was named on the Poets & Quants 2023 List of Most Disruptive Business School Start-Ups, opens in new tab. The Questrom community is extremely proud of the work Johar, Josh, and Taha are doing with Astra Wellbeing to alleviate the healthcare burnout crisis using business and leadership skills to bring their ideas to life.
“Our team met during our first year at Boston University while taking a healthcare class that exposed us to the healthcare burnout crisis. We all shared our own stories, which had such personal ties to the industry, that we sat at our school’s dining hall for hours sharing them.”
In the Poets & Quants article, the team shares some of their proudest accomplishments. “Over the last 12 months of working on our venture, we have conducted 150+ employee interviews and secondary market research; developed our platform; launched prototypes at Boston-based hospitals; won Boston University’s two biggest innovation competitions; completed our 2023 Accelerators (Mass Challenge, Microsoft For Founders); attended and spoke at national burnout conferences/summits across the nation; and formed partnerships with industry giants. So far, our biggest accomplishment has been the reaction of our end user.”
Astra Wellbeing continues to find new heights in prestigious competitions and challenges. In their third innovation competition win, they received 2nd place in Princeton University’s Impact Now challenge which had a 1% acceptance rate. As CEO of Astra Wellbeing, Johar Singh represented the team at the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards and finished 2nd place in the state of Massachusetts and took home the prize fund. They recently made the Top 50 in the semi-finals, opens in new tab for the prestigious Baylor New Venture Competition. Astra Wellbeing has been busy with prospective client meetings and participating in a variety of national conferences such as Future Labs Live in Philadelphia and the NACHC Conference in Las Vegas. Johar was also an opening speaker for Boston University’s annual IdeaCon which hosted 2,000 people at Questrom.
