Professor Rena Conti Working Across Five BU Research Centers to Prevent Future Pandemics

BU Hariri Institute for Computing recently published an article spotlighting the work of the multidisciplinary team of researchers at BU working towards preventing and predicting future pandemics, including Rena Conti, Associate Professor of Markets, Public Policy & Law.

The team, consisting of faculty across five BU research sectors and the EcoHealth Alliance, will work on a $1 million project funded by the National Science Foundation. With a shared goal of predicting disease spread and formation, the team will use COVID data and research to guide their work. A representative from EcoHealth adds that,

“This project brings together a world-class transdisciplinary team of scientists to address the challenge of predicting where outbreaks may occur, detecting them faster when they do, and developing interventions that directly address the things that can prevent local outbreaks from becoming global pandemics: human behavior, policies, and effective communication.”
