Conference: Good News From Africa, Friday, April 16 2010

The Pardee Center organized an all-day conference at Boston University on Friday, April 16, 2010. The conference brought together leading scholars, practitioners, and experts on Africa in a series of discussion panels which took an in-depth view of current trends in social and economic development, politics, and culture within the continent and its subregions. Boston University’s Africa Studies Center (ASC) and the African Presidential Archives and Research Center (APARC)—two leading centers of African studies, both at Boston University—were collaborating partners for the conference.

The goal of the conference was to highlight the trends likely to shape the region over the next half century, especially those that have the potential to reach positive outcomes. The conference sought to incite a conversation focused on the steps needed to craft a better future for the continent without ignoring the realities on the ground or the difficulty of change.
