- Starts: 4:00 pm on Thursday, April 16, 2026
- Ends: 5:30 pm on Thursday, April 16, 2026
Join in person or via Zoom us for a Global Health Politics Workshop with Christoph Hanssmann. Associate Professor of Gender, Sexuality, & Women’s Studies, University of California, Davis. Hanssmann studies the politics of health, science and medicine, focusing on relationships between biomedicine and social movements.
In Care without Pathology is is a transnational analysis of trans health, examining how activists and care providers define the field and enact care as a public good. It highlights the distributive arguments activists have made to access state funding for health care, combating state arguments that funding trans- health care is too specialized, too expensive, and too controversial. Hanssmann situates trans- health as a crucible within which sweeping changes are taking place—with potentially far-reaching effects on the economic and racial barriers to accessing care.
